Avweld operates a newly upgraded robotic cladding and hardfacing system comprising two 40kg, 2.7m reach ABB 6-axis robots working together on a 10m long track, paired with two 2-axis 5-tonne robotic positioners. The two robots can operate individually on separate jobs or with coordinated motion on a single job, depending on size and complexity, and the system is specifically designed for high-speed automated cladding and rebuilding of worn and new parts using a wide variety of hardfacing alloys — bringing worn components back to new condition and significantly extending life beyond OEM replacement components.
Expanding Robotic Capacity
Avweld is currently upgrading its existing gantry robotic facility with the same ABB robot platform used in the newly upgraded system. Standardising all cladding systems on ABB robots increases overall capacity while ensuring consistency of operation and programming across the facility.
In addition, Avweld has installed two smaller ABB robots equipped with "multimove" software, used for cladding and hardfacing of smaller jobs including automatic TIG welding and various R&D projects.
