Shaft Repairs & Journal Repairs
ALL SHAFTS AND JOURNALS ARE REPAIRABLE, EITHER JUST FOR DIMENSIONAL RESTORATION, OR FOR ADDED PROTECTION WITH HARDFACING.
The repair and/or improvement of bearing and packing journals is a specialised application of Avweld’s skills and unique technical capacity in advanced thermal spray processes. We complement this by machining, grinding and superfinishing as required to achieve the exact surface finish and wear resistance required for your application. Over many years Avweld have repaired literally thousands of shafts of every size possible.
The careful selection of materials and surface finish gives maximum life to the components while enhancing the life of the packing materials. Because wear of packing journals is reduced to such low levels, the efficiency of the equipment is enhanced significantly and reliability extends to 3 or 4 times the unprotected life of the unit. Corrosion resistance is also extreme with elevated operating temperatures presenting no issues.
Shafts are repaired with cold-spray processes, which result in absolutely no distortion or substrate metallographic change. This results in assurance that the performance of your shaft will not decline over time. As all work is done in-house, the quality and quick turn around of your critical components is assured.
